Pangboche 4000m 1.5 hours
Wow, I slept right through until 4am and then dozed until 5:30am. I was up in time to see the sun rise over Ama Dablam and took several photos. It is such a great time of the day!
A beautiful old black yak came meandering along and stood quietly while I took several photos of him – so obliging! I said to Bikesh I would love to pet him and he just laughed and said, ok I will watch and take the video.
We had breakfast outside as it was sunny and warm once the sun came over the mountains. Shortly before 8am we left Tengboche and we at the Nameste Lodge by 9:30am.
The guys had something to eat and were then off to Ama Dablam base camp at 4900m which is about 5 hours return. I told the porters, Tshiri and Ishower to have a day off – giggles from both of them.
I wandered through the village and found my way to the Hermann H German Bakery. Here they had Wi-Fi so that I could work on the Blog. I chatted with a lady from PEI heading up to EBC and Island Peak as well as a Swiss couple that have done the Gokyo route and are on their way down. The Swiss lady’s brother owns Mt. Assinboine Lodge up in the Rockies near Banff/Canmore – small world.
I spent the balance of the afternoon reading and napping. The guys got back from their extra jaunt around 4PM. We hung about and were very happy when the stove was fueled up with yak dung and lit. It is getting colder in the evenings as we go higher so we all snuggled up to the stove.
We ate at 6PM and shortly after made our way to our rooms.
