We awoke refreshed and went down one floor to the breakfast room. And what a room – absolutely stunning.
The ladies went their separate ways in groups of interest and eventually around 11am I wandered over to the Ponte Vecchio taking photos and taking in the sights. I was amazed at the number of people, and group tours everywhere! I made my way to the Duomo and Tower and the stopped by at the Cafe 900 for Mushroom & Gorgonzola Risotto and a glass of Pinot Grigio – ahhhh this is heaven. On my way back to he hotel I bumped into Doris and Margie who had just had lunch only doors down from me. Too funny.
We stopped at the corner for gelato at B. Ice and then back to the hotel. Time to relax a wee bit before heading to the Kraft Hotel roof top terrace for an afternoon aperitivo. The view from here is spectacular – we good see the Duomo and Tower as well as the hills of Fiesole (where Cesar declared that Firenze, next to the Arno River is where the town would be).
Ok time now for dinner. We were tired and therefore stopped at one of the Osterias close to our hotel. Dinner was lovely, and we then headed down to the river to get a view of the Ponte Vecchio with it’s newly appointed LED lights. What a tranquil setting.
Back to the hotel it was an early night once again as we are off early tomorrow to see the Statue of David.
